Course Selection Criteria
Conditions of Readiness
We see your power! We see and count on the bold, critical moves grassroots and nonprofit organizations pursue to lead change. And, we know that as busy leaders, time is the most valuable resource. We therefore take steps to ensure that organizations and leaders who join the course are ready and most likely to benefit from the experience. We’ve crafted specific selection criteria to help us assess the readiness necessary to engage in the course. In today’s high-threat environment, we want to ensure those participating in the course are prepared to manage risk effectively and have the capacity required to do bold work safely.
Applicant Requirements
The following characteristics of applicant organizations help to ensure success and ARE REQUIRED for acceptance into the Bold & Safe program:
More than one team member from an organization are welcome and encouraged to participate. The more staff committed to building a culture of compliance the more successful the course is likely to be!
Have at least ONE committed operational staff position who holds responsibility for compliance
Be a social justice organization
Have multi-entities already in place
Have in place programmatic strategies that require legal compliance:

Optimal Conditions of Readiness
In addition to the program requirements, the following selection criteria will also be considered among applicant organizations. While not explicitly required, organizations that include the following characteristics are most likely to benefit from the course.
Have a committed organizational leader available to participate in some key content
Made an organizational commitment to build up operational capacity for 2026-2027:
Have an established relationship with a compliance lawyer/legal partner

Sliding Scale Costs for Participants
We welcome all applicants. Training fees help support the development and running of the program for organizations that have professional development funds. If you are accepted to the program and price is an issue, please let us know. Those accepted into the program may participate at the following suggested, sliding scale contribution levels:
